I HATE Taco Cabana!

Well, okay, I don't really hate Taco Cabana. I'm too addicted to hate them. But today, I hate their cups. I stopped by there for lunch and got my medium Dr. Pepper. (Taco Cabana's medium sodas are 32 glorious ounces). I take a drink from the straw and then go to grab my taco. I notice a line of brown spots going down the right side of my light pink shirt. Crap! Luckily, I was stylin' in my layers and had another shirt underneath. I caught the spill in time that it hadn't leaked through to the other shirt. And this is not the first time that the lids on Taco Cabana's cup have failed me. If you recall, the same thing happened with another TC cup. How hard is it to get a tight fitting lid?

Oh, and if you think I'm the only TC addict, think again! My good friend, Susie, is just as addicted as I am! (Sorry to rat you out Susie!)

A head's up for my coupon buddies...

In this week's Sunday paper (the one out today) there are 2 prescription coupons. The CVS ad should have a coupon for a $30 gift card and the Target ad has a $10 coupon. I use these at the Kroger pharmacy where they will accept competitor's coupons on ANY prescription, not just transfers. This is the best way to get free groceries so get yourself a few extra copies of the paper. (I got 10!)

Isn't this picture hysterical? My friend, Amy's husband captioned it. It totally cracks me up!

Say "Cheese!"

Gotta love those cash-back rewards, especially when you get double credit at certain stores. So what did my wonderful husband get for me? Why this fun little thing! This think is so tiny! It's fun and red too! I can take it anywhere! Unlike my old camera that was a clunker. It took great pictures, but it's freakin' HUGE!!! Not to mention, the old camera was a measly 5 megapixels where the new one is 7.2. I'm fancy now!

Save it for the bathroom

I was going to be productive today. I woke up early (6:15am), got dressed, made the kids breakfast, packed their lunches, loaded them in the car, took the girls to school, and headed out to get me some breakfast tacos & Dr Pepper at Taco Cabana. (Yes, I know I have a problem!)

After I grabbed my breakfast, I went to get the car inspected. Got to the car place, and went rummaging through my car to find my insurance. No where to be found. Crap! And then I remember, I took it out to get the car registration last month. It's probably at home on the counter. So, me, Bubba Chubs and the tacos start heading back home. I get stuck at a red light and realize that I have my coupon notebook with me. Hey, it wouldn't hurt to check in there to see if I had put the insurance card in there when I was cleaning. Lo, and behold, there is the insurance card squished inbetween all my coupons. Time for a U-turn!

I get back to the car place (where you get a free car wash and vacuum with the inspection), and unload Chubs. We go into the waiting room where some are looking out the window, waiting for their car, some are reading magazines, and some are messing around with their phones. And then I have to do a double take. There is a lady (probably in her 50s, but hasn't aged well), staring into a medium-sized hand held mirror applying her make-up.

I know you're thinking, "Muggle, there's really not anything too odd about someone applying make-up in public."

But wait, I'm not talking about a lipstick touch up or a dab of the powder to remove a bit of shine. I'm talkin' the whole shabang! She has a plastic shoe box container filled with all her make-up. She's applying coverup, foundation (the wrong color and WAY too much), powder, blush, eye-liner, mascara, eye shadow, lipstick, and probably more stuff that I'm forgetting. You would have thought that this lady was about to go on stage with the amount of make-up she was piling on. And I saw her before she had applied anything and she looked much better. She had all her paraphernalia sprawled out all over the waiting room coffee table. She was getting a full detail on her car and herself! Way to multitask!

So leaving with a newly inspected, shiny, clean car, I was ready to get on with my day. I met up with a few friends to chat and then headed home to put the baby down for a little nap before we had to go visiting teaching. He fell asleep quickly and I got to catch up on my blog reading and my KU. It was time to get him up and head out the door when my phone rang. The school nurse. Dang it! K vomitted at school. YUCK! So I had to cancel visiting teaching and had to go pick her. Poor thing!

We get to the school to pick her up and the nurse tells me that a lot of the kids in her grade have been coming down with the same thing. Ugh! I get her home and get her set up with a movie, Sprite and some saltines. I'm hoping this is a quick moving bug. I also hope that the other kids don't get it...or me for that matter.

A long overdue grocery blog

I haven't blogged in awhile about my grocery shopping. Shame on me! I've had a great couple weeks shopping with the GG. Last week, I got about $250 worth of groceries for around $65. (I can't find the receipts, or else you know I would be posting exact amounts. BUT I do have the receipts from shopping today and they are

Store #1
Total: $65.27
Paid: $18.86
Saved: $46.41 (71%)

Store #2
Total: $168.48
Paid: $0.00
They paid ME: $16.90

So, all in all, I got $233.75 for $1.96. Definitely one of my best trips.

And here is a link for a $5 rebate with a purchase of 2 Lysol products and a visit to the pediatricians office:

TAG! I'm IT!

Thanks Susie for tagging me! Now I have to think. :P So here are seven, yes 7 random things about me. Yes, it is your lucky day!

1. I would much rather clean toilets than sweep and mop. (Or I can just NOT do both of them!)

2. I can get out almost any stain in the laundry.

3. One year, a lucky year, I won $1000, $2000 and $5000! The $1000 was from a TV show and the $2000 and $5000 were from the same radio station.

4. I had my first cavity at age 26. (Still my only cavity).

5. I am thoroughly addicted to Dr. Pepper. I love it! It runs in my veins....literally, it does!

6. My ears don't match.

7. Like Susie, I could eat at Taco Cabana EVERYDAY and love every bite of it (with a Dr. Pepper of course!)

Now, who to tag? Hmmmmmmmmm....let me think.

1. Suzi
2. Julie
3. Megan
4. Stephanie
5. Beka
6. Misty (for your first blog)
7. Angela

Curious Creatures

Here are a few pics of some newer additions to our mini-ocean. The first is a carpet anemone. It is really cool! The next is a Hawaiian Hawk fish. He's a gorgeous red color. And the last shot is some of the fish in the tank.

Yet, another blog

I have started another blog. It is more for myself than anyone. I'm hoping that it will be a record of my spiritual thoughts, discoveries, insights, and growth. You are welcome to check it out if you like.

Feeding My Soul

I am a true procrastinator. A chronic procrastinator, in fact! I wait to the last minute for pretty much everything in my life. One thing that I am all-too-good at procrastinating is doing the dishes. I HATE (and I don't use that word lightly) doing dishes! Maybe it's because Mom had such a great "kitchen chore" wheel when we were kids that she was just a little too good at enforcing.

Yes, Mom, you scarred me for life!

If I could have my wish, I would sleep and play on the computer all day, but alas, the sink full of dirty dishes is starting to call me ugly names. They are so mean! I HATE the dishes, and they aren't showing me much love today either. I think that I might have to stray into the world of paper goods.

(And those aren't my dishes. I haven't sunk that low to take a picture of my dirty dishes for the blog, but I'm glad someone else has.)

Whew! Dodged the bullet!

Thank goodness, Hurricane (yes, HURRICANE) Humberto decided to turn to the northeast and missed us! It did the same thing that Rita did 2 years ago, turned at the last minute. But this guy was a last-minute kind of guy anyways, wasn't he? He did get his act together until he was just 50 miles off the coast and decide to become a tropical storm. And then right before he hit landfall, he strengthened to a hurricane. Come on man! (I'm just glad he decided to stand Houston up!)

It's gonna be a LONG night!

When I woke up this morning, I had NO idea that we would be getting hit by a tropical storm! (It makes me feel a little better that I don't think the weatherman did either). So Humberto is knocking on our door, and we're right in the path. Woohoo!!!! And since we need the rain so much...I'm telling you! My yard has been a marshland all summer long thanks to the relentless rain we have been getting. I think that we are 16 to 17 inches OVER our average. What's 5 or 10 more inches? Anyone have a boat we could borrow?

The small things

I was about to switch my electrical provider for a lower rate, when I thought, "Hey! I should call my current provider first to see if they will give me a lower rate. That way I won't have the hassle of switching!"

Sometimes I'm brilliant!

They gave me a lower rate! No problem at all! So now we will be paying 10.8 cents per kWh instead of 13.6 cents. Love it!

If I get my act together, I'll post my grocery savings this week. It was a GREAT week!

Another word of warning

Don't jam your knee cap into the corner of a desk drawer. It will leave a BIG dent in your knee and your knee cap will NOT like it. It will hurt a LOT and you will fall to the ground rolling around crying like a baby. Your husband will then come in, prop your knee on some pillows and get you some ice for the knee. And then you will ask for your computer so you can blog about it because you are avoiding doing your sign up sheets and handouts for the upcoming craft night at church. And then you'll get writer's block and watch NBC's preview for the fall line up. I can't wait for The Office to start. Ouch! My knee hurts!

Don't try new things!

A friend found a cool Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows blog template for me. I set it up and the dumb thing erased pretty much everything but my actual blogs. So I've had to redo everything. Please check my "Fellow Bloggers" section down on the right hand side to make sure I have a link to your blog. I had to do it by memory and let's face it....after this last kid, there aren't too many brain cells left.

New 'Do

Not the best before & after pics since in the before pic I had attempted to straighten my hair and in the new one, I'm wearing it curly. (Plus I like my make up in the before one better). Oh well. But there you go! And we don't even need to talk about the 100% humidity today. Humidity + Hair = FRIZZ!!!!

After we bought the Wii, I got suckered into joining Blockbuster Total Access program (like Netflix). And I decided that we needed to catch up on 24. We love this show, but we didn't start watching until season 4. We have finished seasons 1 & 2 and just started 3. The end of every episode is a total cliff hanger! And since there are 4 episodes per DVD, it is all-too-easy to just click "play" on the next episode. So what initially was going to be 42 nail-biting minutes, turns into 168 minutes of non-stop, butt-kicking action. Then it's 11:00pm and I'm all wound up from the thrilling ride with Jack Bauer. How is someone supposed to sleep after that? Jack doesn't sleep for 24 hours...neither should I. But thanks to Ambien, I am able to make my date with Dreamland. But who just happens to visit me in Dreamland? Why, Jack Bauer of course! The butt-kicking action continues! Sweet! (Or not). Now I'm not sure what actually happened in the show and what was a dream. Dang you, Jack Bauer! Dang you!

***I stand corrected. We didn't start watching 24 until season 5! Are you telling me that I have 1,764 more suspense filled minutes of 24 to watch? You have to be kidding me!?!? (For those wondering how many hours that is, it's 29.4 hours). I wonder if we play the DVDs while we're sleeping we can absorb what happens through osmosis......

I've been a bad blogger!

I know, I know....I've been so bad at blogging! I've been very busy preparing for a class I'm teaching on how to do the Grocery Game. It's tomorrow, so hopefully, I'll be better at keeping up starting Thursday night. I got a new haircut today. Nothing drastic, just a trim with long layers. I'll post a pic tomorrow. I don't have makeup on today, so I just end up looking washed out in pictures without it. And just for my adoring fans, I took a before pic so you can compare. You're welcome.
