Surprise in a box

While the kids and I were out of town, the poor hubby was left to fend for himself. He decided to have a bowl of delicious Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Yum! This box had already been opened and eaten from by the kids. He opened it up and suddenly, he was no longer alone. What company joined him, you may ask. A roach? A mouse? A rat? Eeeeek!!!!!!! Nope. It was this little guy:

A green tree frog. He was probably 5-6 inches stretched out. I don't believe that they are native to our area. It was just sitting on top of the rolled up cereal bag (not inside). The only thing we can figure is that the frog must have travelled home with us in a plant from my husband's grandmother's funeral. We released him (or her...I have NO idea how to sex a frog) into our orange tree in the backyard.

Not your everyday cereal prize, eh?

(A few new items are up on the kids' blog, so check it out).

"You can google it"

Here's a clip from the upcoming Twilight movie. I loved it! It cracked me up to hear Edward say, "You can google it." Too funny!

Old friends

What a fun time we had! I am so glad I came in town and was able to reconnect with several old friends. Not that we're old, but that I haven't seen a few of them in over 10 years! Everyone looked great! Everyone seems to be doing very well too. It was fun to see everyone's families and spouses. We need to do this more frequently!

I am going to be working on an address book of sorts with everyone's contact info so we can keep track of one another a little better. So be watching your email for me to be hounding you down. ;) If you are very proactive, you can send me your info at mugglemom78 at cebridge dot net. Here's what I'm looking for:

Name (maiden included for girls)
Full mailing address
Phone number(s)
Email
Blog/MySpace/Facebook/Webpage
Quick catch up blurb, like yrs married, kids, etc.

Blueberry Picking

We got up nice and early on Saturday morning for our annual blueberry picking trip. You have to get up super early to avoid the majority of the heat. We got to pick in our favorite section that has big, juicy berries that are nice and sweet. We picked 11½ pounds. They freeze great and make the best freezer jam. (The trick with that is is that you actually have to make the jam. It doesn't make itself).

UPDATE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS:

  • The blueberry farm is in the Houston area: http://www.moorheadsblueberryfarm.com/
  • Blueberries are $1.50 per pound
  • The picking season is now through mid-July. (Always call if you want to go in July or later because they might be out).
  • The farm provides buckets free of charge.
  • You can also buy honey collected from the bees that pollinate the farm....SO good!

    We love you Granny!

My husband's grandmother, Granny, lost her battle with emphysema a few days ago. She will be very much missed. She was such a loving and generous woman. We love you Granny!

    Breaking Dawn: The First Chapter

Yes, another Twilight entry, so if you're not into it, sorry.

I got my special edition of Eclipse yesterday. I was so excited because it has the preface & first chapter for Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book in the Twilight series. Not only did it have those, it also debuted the cover for the book as well. I was completely surprised by the cover. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. I like it though. It also had 2 iron-ons for T-shirts to proclaim your loyalties: Team Edward & Team Jacob. Since I haven't committed to a team, I'm not sure which one I'll choose! Maybe I'll make both and be a dorky teeny bopper wannabe! LOL!!!

And a HUGE thank you to Stephenie Meyer for making characters that I can't seem to get out of my head!

UPDATE:  You can now read the first chapter of Breaking Dawn on Stephenie Meyer's UK site.
