For a friend

This is a letter from my friend, Emily. If you can help out at all, it would be wonderful! Please pass the letter along to anyone you might know. Thanks!

Lee Bass, a 56 year old resident of Kingwood Texas was diagnosed with Hepatitis C Male End Stage Liver Disease. The only thing that could preserve his life was a liver transplant. Lee does not have medical insurance of any kind. The financial coordinator at Memorial Hermann Hospital’s Liver Center encouraged Lee’s Family to raise money with the National Foundation for Transplants. They are a 501c-3 Not For Profit group. A committee of Lee’s friends and family raised $26,000 in 6 months and he also had his transplant around 3 years ago. The funds have gone quickly, as just Lee’s anti-rejection medicine alone can cost up to $5000 a month. And he may have to start Interferon again. Interferon is a chemo type drug that works against the Hepatitis increasing the lifespan of Lee’s new liver.

I am sending this letter in the hopes that you may be able to help with Lee’s situation. Taking away the pressure of the heavy cost of many prescriptions needed to keep Lee alive is our goal.

The National Foundation for Transplants organization assists transplant patients nationwide in raising funds for lifesaving surgery and their aftercare. The involvement of NFT ensures that all donations for Lee are tax deductible and that funds raised will NOT be used for any other purpose other than to pay Lee’s Transplant related expenses.

Monetary donations or questions can be answered by the staff and NFT. The phone number is 800-489-3863. There is also a website now you can find it at There is a “find a patient” link and you can find my father there.

Any size donation is beneficial to Lee. The medicine he takes to survive. Help us keep him around a little longer.

Thank you in advance,

Midnight Sun

For you Twilight fans, you'll know about Midnight Sun.  It's Twilight from Edward's perspective.  Well, Stephenie Meyer had published the first chapter on her website.  It just left me (and many other Twilighters) wanting more.  So she has promised that she will finish it and publish it at some point.

Somehow, a rough draft was leaked and was being passed around on the internet.  In response, Stephenie decided to publish what she has written up to this point on her website.  It looks like its about half of the book.  You can read it here:

I've been a bad blogger!

It's been a crazy few weeks!  Our oldest daughter turned 8 and was baptized, so we got to have some family come in town.  Here is my mom and the kids at Lupe Tortilla.

Here is our family before her baptism.  Such a great day!
Here is just a picture of me that I like.  :)
First day of school.
I have posted several more pictures of the kids on their blog, so check them out!

So about 11 days ago, the Olypics started. And Michael Phelps was all over the place! And my sweet husband wouldn't stop about how much he looked like my brother. I could see a resemblance, but the hubby just wouldn't stop! Then my brother came to visit this past weekend and we had a BLAST with the Michael Phelps jokes. Then my sister created this image to prove that he does, in fact, resemble Michael Phelps. Although I think my brother is better looking, Michael has him on body and money. Sorry Bro!

So I just received some interesting Twilight movie news. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how the chips fall.

Unbeknownst to me, Warner Brothers moved the release of Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince from November 21, 2008 to July 17, 2009. Ouch! That sucks!

Summit Entertainment saw a nice open spot and has decided to move up the release of Twilight from December 12, 2008 to November 21, 2008!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!! Several weeks early. Sweet!

I am due November 28th. My babies like to come early too. I think this might be the only pregnancy that I will be hoping for an on time or late delivery.

"Mama" --- the new four letter word

Can I tell you how much I cringe when I hear "mama"? Don't get me wrong....I love being a mother. But my kids scream it at me at least 100 times a day, and that is NOT an exaggeration. It drives me insane! It takes all my will power not to yell at them to shut up and stop saying that. But I am good. I let the "mama" continue. Maybe I just need a nap. :)

Breaking Dawn Release

A group of us gals stormed the teen-scene of the Breaking Dawn release at our local Barnes & Noble. We had an absolute BLAST!!!!!

Yara, my buddy.  :)
Brenda & Caryn showing us the Breaking Dawn stickers since they didn't have cool shirts.
Vampire Brides....Chili's Style
Beka, Yara & yours truly.  Check out the cool BD button that my sweet hubby picked up for me at Border's on his lunch break.  He does love me!  ;)
Sitting in line, anxiously awaiting midnight.
Sitting in line.  Check out my prego gut.  :)
Brenda had a little too much fun taking my picture.  But I liked this one and it's my blog so deal with it.  :P
Caryn having fun.
Another pic from Brenda.  Cradling the gut.
Caryn again.  We discovered early in the evening that she strangely resembled Stephenie Meyer...the author of the Twilight books.
So we had to take pictures with our very own Stephenie Meyer look-a-like!

After we got our books and left the store, Yara reached in to get her book and was "bitten" by the book.  Literally...she had a nasty paper cut from the book.  It was so weird, but funny.
Can you see how excited we were?
Reading in the parking lot.  I made them read to me as I drove home.  Yep, I'm a mean friend.

I stayed up that night until about 6am reading, read most of Saturday until my poor eyes couldn't take anymore, then finished Sunday night.  The book was had quite a few surprises.  I wish that there was a little more action, but it was still a great book.  (There is a new character who's name I cannot stand!  It drove me crazy every time I had to read it.  Ugh!)
